Why not take a look at my other pictures of West Lothian.
These two sculptures are by Jim Whitson, the self-styled "Blazing Blacksmith" of Peebles. The sporangium, at the back, was inspired by the spore capsules of hair moss.

They sit on the Blawhorn Moss, an 8,500 year old peat bog which sits in the hills above Blackridge, West Lothian. A wooden walkway leads across a small section of the bog, which is deep enough to bury two double-decker buses and extremely dangerous to walk on. It is a designated National Nature Reserve. Unlike most of Scotland's peat bogs, Blawhorn is unexploited and remains in its natural state.

Peat bogs are Scotland's rainforests. They act as a carbon sink, soaking up carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere and contributing significantly in the fight against global warming.
