These two sculptures are by Jim Whitson, the self-styled "Blazing Blacksmith" of Peebles. The sporangium, at the back, was inspired by the spore capsules of hair moss.It comes as a canvas, a framed print, a framed mounted print or an acrylic.

They sit on the Blawhorn Moss, an 8,500 year old peat bog which sits in the hills above Blackridge, West Lothian. A wooden walkway leads across a small section of the bog, which is deep enough to bury two double-decker buses and extremely dangerous to walk on. It is a designated National Nature Reserve. Unlike most of Scotland's peat bogs, Blawhorn is unexploited and remains in its natural state.
Peat bogs are Scotland's rainforests. They act as a carbon sink, soaking up carbon-dioxide in the atmosphere and contributing significantly in the fight against global warming.
