Although it is officially within the Falkirk Council area, Blackness lies just over the West Lothian border, and is often considered to be a part of West Lothian. Blackness Castle doubles up as Fort William in the TV series Outlander.
The castle is known as "The Ship That Never Sailed" due to its shape.
