An Lochan Uaine, otherwise known as The Green Lochan, sits in Glenmore Forest, deep in the Cairngorms National Park, in the eastern Scottish Highlands.
In the summer, the waters are a brilliant turquoise colour. According to legend, the loch is green because the faeries of Glenmore wash their clothes in it. But here in the winter, the green waters are hidden beneath a layer of ice and snow. And the faeries are obviously feeling a little mischievous because if you look closely, you can see that they have built a snowman on the ice in the middle of the loch.
