Queensferry High Street, Queensferry, by Edinburgh, Scotland

Queensferry High Street

A nighttime shot of Mid Terrace, which sits above the High Street in South Queensferry, looking west from the steps beside The Ferry Tap pub towards the tower of the Jubilee Clock. There are three of these raised terraces, which run across the roofs of the ground floor buildings of the High Street, allowing pedestrian access to the buildings above.

The Clock Tower was built in 1720, but was remodelled in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria, at a total cost of £227, 7 shillings and sixpence. It was lit by gas until the 1920's. The tower also contains two bells, dating from 1694 and 1723.

Queensferry's historic old town is a designated Conservation Area.
