The sun was rising over Blackness Castle on the southern bank of the River Forth in Scotland. Just caught it before the big bank of grey cloud in the top of the picture rolled in from the west and filled the sky, where it remained for the rest of the day.

This picture was taken at around 5am in the early summer of 2015. It captures the new Queensferry Crossing at a stage before the road decking was added.

Blackness Castle itself has been used extensively as a location for the TV series "Outlander".
