Beinn Dorain, on the West Highland Way, Scotland

Beinn Dorain

This picture of Beinn Dorain is for sale.

It comes as a canvas (from £50.00), or an unframed print (from £1.20).

Why not take a look at my other pictures of the West Highland Way.
A bank of cloud sits around the snowy peak of Beinn Dorain, just north of Tyndrum in the Scottish Highlands. In the foreground are the remains of the old Military Road from Stirling to Fort William, built by Major William Caulfeild as part of the British Government's forceful, deliberate and often violent subjugation of the Highlands in the aftermath of the Battle of Culloden in the mid-18th century.

A little further north from here, the Military Road joins the route of the West Highland Way and makes for very pleasant and easy walking along a well maintained historic path to Bridge of Orchy. Here, however, the road is gradually returning to nature.
